Rebooking now starts before the airline tells you
Pioneer watches every booked flight for delays and cancellations from the moment it is ticketed. When a flight is canceled, or delayed enough to break a connection, it now holds a replacement seat first and asks second.
- The traveler gets the new itinerary in the trip's thread, with one button to keep it and one to see other options.
- Held seats inside policy are kept automatically after 15 minutes, so nobody has to be awake for it.
- The old fare's refund or credit is tracked on the trip and shows up in the close.
During testing in September, the median rebooking landed 41 minutes before the airline's own notice.

Per diems follow the city, not the trip
A trip that crosses cities, Denver on Monday and Boise on Wednesday, now pays each day's per diem at the rate for where the traveler slept. Before, the whole trip used the first city's rate.
Rates for all 50 states are updated on October 1 each year, and you can still set a flat company rate that overrides them.

Approvals inside the thread
An exception, a hotel over its cap or a trip over its budget, used to arrive as an email with a link. It now arrives in the same chat thread as the trip, addressed to the person who owns that budget.
- Approve or decline in one tap, with a reason if you like.
- Every exception shows the price difference and a compliant alternative next to it.
- Approvals older than four hours are escalated to the next person you named.

Hotel folios are matched line by line
Hotels send a folio, not a receipt, and folios carry room nights, taxes, parking and the odd minibar charge on one page. Pioneer now reads each line and codes it separately, so parking lands in ground transport and the room in lodging.
Folio matching is on for every plan. Lines Pioneer cannot read with confidence are flagged for a person rather than guessed.

Rail is offered first on short trips
For trips under four hours by train, Pioneer now puts the rail option at the top, with door-to-door time beside the flight's. The Northeast Corridor, the Pacific Northwest and Chicago to Milwaukee and St. Louis are covered.
Teams can turn this into a policy rule, a soft limit or a hard cap, from the policy page.

Split charges no longer split the receipt
When a hotel charged a deposit at check-in and the balance at checkout, Pioneer matched the receipt to the larger charge and left the deposit open. Both charges now match the one folio, and the close shows them as a pair.
Thanks to the twelve teams who wrote in about this one.

A card for every trip
Each trip can now carry a virtual card of its own. Its limit is the trip's budget, its life is the trip's dates, and it closes the day after the trip ends.
- Merchant rules per card: lodging and airfare yes, cash withdrawals never.
- Per diems load onto the same card each morning.
- Unspent budget returns to the team's pool when the card closes.
